WALTERBORO, S.C. (AP) – Authorities say a 9-year-old girl managed to hide from a gunman who shot her in the leg before the man killed three members of her family during a robbery in a small South Carolina town. Colleton County sheriff’s deputies issued new arrest warrants Thursday charging 18-year-old Kenneth Chisholm with kidnapping, robbery and weapon charges. He already faces three counts of murder. Chisholm denied the charges, telling a judge at a bond hearing “I’m not the guy.”

WASHINGTON (AP) – A new House oversight committee chairman will lead scrutiny of the Trump administration. Republican congressman Trey Gowdy of South Carolina has been a dogged investigator of Hillary Clinton. Now he’ll be running a budding investigation into possible ties between Russia and Trump’s campaign.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) – A suspended South Carolina attorney has been charged with taking $450,000 from two clients. Charleston attorney David A. Collins has been charged with breach of trust with fraudulent intent for takin money from a real estate partnership that rents to low-income people in North Charleston. Collins said at a bond hearing Thursday he’s working to repay the former clients.

ANDREWS, S.C. (AP) – The body of a South Carolina man has been found in a sports utility vehicle with a number of shell casings around the vehicle. The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office says the body of 32-yea-rold Lamar Michael Thompson of Moncks Corner was found Wednesday in the Andrews area. The case is being investigated as a homicide. No arrests have been made.
