DHEC confirms outbreak of chicken pox at Upstate school

CAMPOBELLO, SC (FOX Carolina) –

DHEC has confirmed an outbreak of chicken pox at an Upstate school.

The agency said there have been three recent cases of chicken pox at Campobello-Gramling School. DHEC said three or more confirmed cases of chicken pox in one school is considered an outbreak.

Any student who has not received the chicken pox immunization will be not be allowed to attend school for 21 days from the last day of a confirmed case, DHEC said.

The agency sent home a letter with students and staff that outlined the symptoms of chicken pox.

“While we do not believe there is any cause for concern, we are taking proper precautions and following DHEC regulations and guidelines to ensure the health and safety of all of our students,” DHEC said.
