MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Heat, humidity and storms on Thursday and Friday will give way to a drier weekend.
Today starts out dry, hot and humid. Highs will be in the mid to low 90s with a heat index near 100. By late in the day, a weak cold front will start to move through North Carolina. Ahead of this front, scattered showers and storms will develop in the mid afternoon and linger into evening. Some of the storms will be strong at times with locally heavy rain and frequent lightning.
By Friday, the weak cold front will slowly drop through the Grand Strand and Pee Dee. With lingering heat and humidity in place, more pop up showers and storms are likely.
The cold front will drop south of the region by late Friday and allow slightly lower humidity to filter in. This will make for a slightly cooler and less humid weekend along with a rain-free forecast. Temperatures both Saturday and Sunday will reach the upper 80s to lower 90s.
