MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A suspicious package containing an envelope with powder inside has been deemed safe after it was sent to the Riptide Motel at 2806 North Ocean Boulevard on Thursday, according to Cpt. Joey Crosby with the Myrtle Beach Police Department.
The substance was transported to the police department as evidence. Out of abundance of caution, the Myrtle Beach Fire Department Hazmat team was called to examine the substance, Crosby says.
The package had to be tested for safety before it was taken into headquarters for evidence processing, Crosby says.
There is no threat to the public or officers.
