HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A husband and wife were killed early Wednesday morning after the motorcycle they were on crashed while fleeing from a South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper, according to information from SCHP Cpl. Sonny Collins and Horry County Coroner Tamara Willard.
Willard identified the victims as 36-year-old Raymond Stallings and his wife, 28-year-old Kerri Stallings, of Myrtle Beach.
At 1:41 a.m., a SCHP trooper tried to stop two motorcycles that were observed going 74 mph on the U.S. 17 Bypass near Grissom Parkway and International Drive, which is a 55 mph speed zone, according to Collins.
When the trooper activated his lights, one of the motorcycles, which had a driver and a passenger, sped up and crashed seconds later, Collins said. He added that the trooper immediately notified SCHP telecommunications of the crash and requested EMS to respond.
Both the driver of the motorcycle and the passenger died as a result of the crash, according to Collins. Horry County law enforcement was called to the scene and is investigating the collision.
