MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The Myrtle Beach Police Department was presented with a check Wednesday for winning the Shop with a Hero selfie contest.
The contest consists of local first responders competing to see who can get the most pictures posted on their Facebook pages during the annual Dickens Christmas Show. The officers won by having over 1,500 posts.
According to the owner of Sticky Fingers, events like these really brings the community and first responders together.
“With us, with Sticky Fingers being around for over 25 years and you know just being a local part of the community, we just love to do anything that involves our local police and fire department and really anything in the community,” Robert Patterson said.
According to a post on the city of Myrtle Beach’s Facebook page, the MBPD was given a check for $1,503 from Sticky Fingers for their Facebook posts. Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue was also awarded a check for $1,294 from the Dickens Christmas Show for their nearly 1,300 posts.
The proceeds will benefit the Shop with a Hero program, which helps children in need shop for the holidays. It will be held in the early part of December.
