UPDATE: Richland Co. woman shot and killed while kids were in home identified by coroner


    The Richland County Coroner has identified the woman who was shot and killed in a home in Northeast Columbia while kids were in the house.

    The coroner identified the victim as 33-year-old Nakya D. Scott of Columbia. Autopsy results indicated Scott died from a gunshot wound to her upper body.

    Deputies responded to a shots fired call at a home in the 2000 block of Faraway Drive at about 2:30 a.m. WIS is told there were multiple kids in the house at the time of the shooting.

    In the home, deputies found a woman with a gunshot wound to their upper body. She was taken to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

    A description of the suspect has not been released by deputies at this time.
