Myrtle Beach man arrested, charged following alleged assault

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A Myrtle Beach man was arrested Sunday in connection to an alleged assault on August 4.

Nathan Ray Tryon, 39, is charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and strong arm robbery.

According to a Myrtle Beach Police Department incident report, the 60-year-old victim said he and the suspect were in the woods near 19th Avenue South and Kings Highway drinking alcoholic beverages when Tryon reportedly began hitting him with his hands repeatedly in the face and head. The victim says he may have said something to trigger the suspect’s actions but did not think he did, the report shows.

The victim flagged down a passerby who then called for an ambulance to transport him to the hospital. According to the report, the victim told police Tryon left the scene with his wallet, phone and bag following the incident. Police say the victim had lacerations to the mouth and lips, as well as swelling around both eyes and his left cheek.

Online records from the J. Reuben Long Detention Center show Tryon is being held on $30,000 bond.
