Over 116,000 customers across the Grand Strand, Pee Dee in the dark


    HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Many areas are reporting power outages as Hurricane Florence is impacting the Grand Strand and the Pee Dee.

    Duke Energy reports that 523,629 customers across North and South Carolina have lost power as of 8:00 p.m. Friday. Of those customers, 39,672 are in South Carolina. Approximately 8,748 customers in Marion County are without power. In Robeson County, NC, there are 21,026 customers without power. In Dillion County, approximately 6,970 are without power.

    Horry Electric Cooperative, Inc. reports on its website that 31,044 customers throughout Horry County are without power as of 8:00 p.m. Friday.

    According to information on Santee Cooper’s website, approximately 45,416 customers are without power. Of those, 41,557 are in Horry County as of 8:00 p.m. Friday. Of that, 21,677 customers were out in North Myrtle Beach, another 8,466 were out in Little River and 784 were in the dark in Conway.

    There is not an estimated restoration time.
